On 27th Mar 2015, we took about 18 children (from grades 4th and up) from Brahmana Kodur
Balvikas group, on a field trip to Bapatla.
We packed the kids in two autos (belonging to one of their parents) - one carrying girls and the
other carrying boys and first drove to the Shirdi Sai temple on Madhavapeddi Kalidas street. We
all participated in a nice puja and Bhajan there.
Then we proceeded to the 1400 year old Bhava Narayana temple, After Darshan, we had a senior
priest explain to the kids about the history of this famous Vishnu temple. Then we visited the
College Of Agriculture in Bapatla. This college visit was made possible by the help of our cousin
Madhavapeddi Lakshminarasimham (Bulli Sai), who is still active in their old students association
(Alumni).
We all enjoyed this visit to the college thoroughly and the children learned a lot about the basic
aspects of the science of agriculture, from the professors and PG students at the institution.
Thanks especially to Prof Sri Krishnayya garu, for spending a lot of time with the children and
communicating beautifully at their level, educating them with such simple and easy everyday
examples.
We know that this exposure to the college environment made a deep impression on these
children's young and inquisitive minds and they are now inspired to try and pursue higher
education in the future, in any field of their choice.
Thanks to the college staff, our meals were also arranged at the P.G. mess. We all had a hearty
lunch there, thus giving a glimpse of the hostel life too, to the children! This fun day is going to
stay in the minds of our farmers' kids for a long long time :)
