Our Village Balvikas children on a field trip to Vijayawada

On the 12th of January 2026, we took our Village Balvikas children on a field trip to Vijayawada.

First we went to Gandhi Hill and paid respects to Father of the Nation, at his Stupa. Also spent a few minutes recapturing his amazing sacrifice and leadership during India's freedom struggle.

Then all the kids and parents enjoyed watching a show at the Planetarium, which introduced them to interesting concepts of Astronomy and Space.

After a yummy picnic lunch on the hill, we took them to the Krishna River. Upon our request, a PWD representative took us to the Prakasam Barrage right on the river bed. Standing at that location, the children got a spectacular view of the iconic structure and got to learn about various aspects of the Barrage in particular and Irrigation in general.

It was a very emotional experience personally for Vijaya and Kalyanaram, since Vijaya 's father worked on the construction of that project during 1955-57, when she was just a toddler.

One of that day's highlights is also how five of our Village Balvikas graduates (who are all now in college) joined us and helped us conduct the whole trip, mentoring younger kids! So proud of them!!
